At theet time of his second marriage he was a cooper in the Royal Navy on H. M. Pembroke.
In 1901 he was 2nd cooper, a member of the crew of Les Column 2. His wife Beatrice and his son were living at 6 Cromwell Terrace, Chatham. Beatrice was 28, a local girl born in Brompton. Beatrice mentioned that she was living on ½ her husband’s pay.
Albert’s naval record lists the many ships he sailed on. He was a cooper until 1918. The record also says that he was 5ft.10 inches tall and had dark brown hair and a fresh dark complexion and a scar under his right eye.
